Background
Give a Hand Foundation (GaHF) is a female sex worker–led, non-profit organization established in 2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which exposed and intensified the socio-economic vulnerabilities of female sex workers in Uganda. While years of advocacy and health programming had significantly improved access to healthcare, the economic shutdowns shifted community needs toward livelihoods, welfare, and social protection. Drawing on over 15 years of collective experience in health services and advocacy, GaHF emerged to address these evolving challenges and open new fronts for community-led engagement and accountability.
Goal
To promote integrated development services for female sex workers by bridging health, livelihoods, welfare, and rights-based interventions through community-driven approaches.
Vision
A society where justice, fairness, and equal access to basic services are guaranteed for female sex workers in all their diversities.
Mission
To improve the health and well-being of society through participatory assessment and inclusive provision of basic services to female sex workers in all their diversities.
