Leadership Development and Skills Training

Building and strengthening the sex workers' movement is a core priority for the African Sex Workers Alliance (ASWA) in Africa. As a membership organization, we are committed to developing strong sex worker leadership to advocate for the removal of barriers and advance decriminalization within their communities. Over the past five years, ASWA has focused on identifying and enhancing the leadership skills of emerging sex worker leaders.

This has been achieved through:

  • Improved Leadership: Sex workers have been trained and mentored on leadership and skill-building.
  • Institutional Capacity Building: The institutional capacity of sex worker-led organizations has been improved.
  • Enhanced Communication Strategies: Effective communication strategies have been developed to engage current members and attract new ones.
