African Sex Workers Alliance (ASWA) is celebrating a momentous achievement following the election of our Regional Coordinator, Grace Kamau, as President of the Global Network of Sex Work Projects (NSWP). This landmark victory represents a significant step forward for African leadership within the global sex workers’ movement.
Grace Kamau’s election reflects her longstanding commitment to advancing the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of sex workers. In her leadership roles at ASWA, she has been instrumental in strengthening regional advocacy, amplifying community voices, and building solidarity across diverse networks.

Action for Community Solidarity and Health (ASSC) warmly congratulated Grace Kamau, describing her appointment as a major milestone in strengthening sex worker-led leadership at the global level. The organization noted that her leadership will reinforce the voice, dignity, and rights of sex workers, and expressed confidence that NSWP will continue advancing human rights, promoting health, and combating violence and discrimination worldwide.
