Book Cover: Advancing Sex Workers' Health & Welfare Programming in East and Southern Africa: An Advocacy Framework

This framework was co-created by a number of players from the United Nations, development partners, civil society organizations and networks of people engaged in sale and exchange of sex.

Preparation for the guide was led by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and African Sex Workers Alliance (ASWA) with the support from a number of partners including the United Nations (ILO, IOM, UNAIDS, UNDP, UNHCR, UN Women and WFP) , GFATM and civil society organizations (African Key Population Experts Group – AKPEG, AIDS and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa – ARASA and Frontline AIDS).

The initial draft framework was developed by Keneilwe Lynette Mabote under the overall technical coordination by Innocent Modisaotsile from UNFPA and Grace Kamau from ASWA.

The different presentations at the regional multi-stakeholder consultation meeting to strengthen people engaged in sale and exchange of sex programmes was held in October 2021 created the foundation for the work.
